Foundation Focus

Foundation is one of those beauty products that can either be completely amazing and you find the perfect shade or you can end up looking so orange with a cakey face - not a good look! Foundation is especially hard to find a good one for me as I am quite pale every month apart from about July to September so to find the right shade is sometimes impossible, mainly on the high street. Many foundations everyone loves and raves about I can't try as they don't go light enough or they are to pink toned which is kind of crappy. Some of these foundations I have completely fallen in love with and loves I cannot stand so its going to be a very mixed foundation reviews which hopefully you will find helpful.

Lighter Coverages.

There are many different lighter coverages on the market, such as the Illamasqua Light Liquid Foundation and the Revlon Nearly Naked. Illamasqua's light liquid foundation has become one of my favourites, I wear the shade LF 135 which is the perfect shade for me. It gives just enough coverage if I'm having a good skin day and covers any red areas with a small amount of product. This foundation would be perfect for the summer months when you don't want too much product on your face. This foundation is super long wearing and really does last all day, even on those hot days. Where as Revlon's Nearly Naked, I cannot stand. I hate it. I don't understand the hype around this foundation, I find that it does absolutely nothing to my skin, its as if I apply a clear foundation which is just pointless. It didn't cover any redness and just made my skin feel horrible.  Just because I am not a fan of this foundation doesn't mean I hate Revlon, its actually one of my favourite high street brands but this product was just not for me.

Medium Coverages.

Both Barry M's Flawless Matte Finish Foundation and Dainty Dolls Liquid Foundation I would say have a medium coverage. Barry M's foundation is a weird one for me. Some days I like it some days I hate it and it does nothing, I think it all comes down to how you apply this one. I think it works a lot better if you apply it with a brush but with your fingers its as if it doesn't give you any coverage. Dainty Doll is targeted at pale girls, which even though I am basically a ghost I still found the second shade to pale. And as I am writing this I realised that the pump is broken from the inside so the pump is useless, I'm glad I didn't pay full price for that one! Broken pump aside, it is an okay foundation, I like that it is quite brightening so its great for those dull skin days and will cover some blemishes and redness but it wears off quite easily which is a bummer.

Full Coverages

Both Rimmel Match Perfection and Maybelline Better Skin have the nicest coverage. Whenever I wear either of these foundations there is no need for concealer, they both cover all of my spots and blemishes. Rimmel Match Perfection gives a lovely satin finish but if you hate that you can always apply a matte setting powder and Maybelline Better Skin is full on matte. Both foundations have great staying powder and really stay put all day, even better if you apply a bit of primer before. I have to mention how amazing Match Perfection smells, next time your in Boots go give it a sniff and you'll see what I mean!

Swatches

Bottom Up: Revlon Nearly Naked (120 Vanilla), Maybelline Better Skin (005 Light Beige), Dainty Doll Liquid Foundation (002), Rimmel Match Perfection (101 Classic Ivory), Barry M Flawless Matte Finish (Ivory 1) and Illamasqua Light Liquid Foundation (LF 135).

As you can see from the swatches, no two foundations are the same shade and I think all of them are the lightest shade or two from each line so it can be difficult to find the perfect shade.

My favourite foundations out of all of them would have to be Illamasqua's Light Liquid, Maybelline Better skin and Rimmel Match Perfection.
