Tanya Burr Birthday Suit Eyeshadow Palette

I haven't been excited by a YouTuber launch in a while and when I spotted the new Tanya Burr Eyeshadow Palette I fell in love with the look of it. I had been really impressed with her lip glosses and they are some of my favourites so I was looking forward to trying out my first eyeshadow palette from her line.

This is the Birthday Suit Eye Palette from Tanya Burr Cosmetics which retails for £6 and is available at Superdrug and Feel Unique. This palette is from Tanya's new collection of Soft Luxe. This palette in particular is perfect for everyday looks and has gorgeous warmer toned shadows which are my absolute favourites. If this colour option isn't for you, there are a few other quads to choose from - I really like the look of the Hollywood Eye Palette. Also in the Soft Luxe collection are new shades of lip glosses and nail polishes.

I must admit that I am not a huge fan of the packaging. While I think it is gorgeous and I love that it had a cute heart shaped mirror inside, it is a little bulky and as it is made of cardboard it isn't durable enough to keep in my makeup bag. I like the metallic sheen to the palette but it was a bloggers nightmare as I just couldn't get it to photograph easily and it took me double the time it normally would! Inside the palette are four eyeshadows with a cute doted design on them but much to my disappointment, that little touch disappeared from the shadows with one swatch as the shadows are incredibly soft.

The four shadows inside the palette are Marzipan, Toast, Coca Sugar and Soft Truffle. All of the shades swatched beautifully on my arm and I was impressed and excited to use them on my eyes but I must say I was a bit disappointed. On the eyes they are a lot sheerer than they swatched my on arm and it didn't matter if I used a brush to apply them or my fingers. I have still been using the palette everyday because I do prefer a more natural look for work so this palette is great but I do wish they showed up a little better on the eyes as it takes a while to try to build up the colour. Cocoa Butter in the pan has some gorgeous glitter running through it but on the eye again they disappear.

While I love the looks I have been creating with this palette, with Marzipan on the lid and a mixture of Toast and Soft Truffle in the crease, I do wish they they were just a little more pigmented. I know this collection has a 'soft luxe' vibe but a little more pigmentation would have been nice. I am on the fence about this - let me know your thoughts if you own it!

  1. I'm always put off by cardboard packaging but the shades are cute!
Shame to hear the pigmentation isn't the best though I guess for £6 it's not so bad..

  4. Hmm, it's such a shame with the pigmentation, you'd hope that someone with a makeup background with strive for more pigmentation xo

  5. It's a shame about the pigments. The colors look like they could have been good. Bad pigments are really annoying x

  7. I brought my first Tanya burr product the other week ( matte lip gloss) but I do love the look of her eyeshadow range. It's shame about the pigmentation of them though.

  8. Glad to see such an honest review on this, I'm never sure whether to buy highstreet eyeshadows if I'm honest. I have Zoeva but thats the cheapest I have, just because I seem to go through shadows so slowly that I would rather invest and have great quality everytime. I love the look of all the shades though, just such a shame about the pigmentation x

  9. I've just got this palette too and I have to say I was quite impressed. I do think they're much better if used over a primer to get better pigmentation but I think for the price you can't really go wrong.

  11. I've never used any Tanya Burr products I normally stay away from Youtubers with products but I definitely like the price - sounds like a good buy and for using it a few times you can't go wrong.

  12. Oooh, I haven't tried any of the Tanya Burr ranges, these colours look lush but I agree, I hate carboard packaging on make up, why do they do it?! I always think that about Benefit and their stuff isn't even cheap is it?!

  16. I have not tried any of Tanya's makeup before but regardless of price I always expect a high level of pigmentation too!

  17. It's too bad about that packaging. I can see these colors being nice for basic looks but not anything extravagant.

  18. These are always the colours I opt for as I have ginger hair so bronzes and golds work best. Great price for it and I do love Tanya!

  19. This seems like any other palette you can get? Like the Kylie Jenner one that's coming out. I guess you just pay for names!

  21. The colours look gorgeous. As others have mentioned, might a primer help you get a stronger shade?
