Smashbox LIGHT IT UP: Primer Set

Smashbox are one of those brands that I always hear good things about but personally have never tried. I have had the Photofinish primer on my wishlist for well over a year so when I spotted this gift set in Boots, I basically threw it in my basket and headed to the till with no regrets.

This gift set is from this years Christmas collection which I did a full post about if you want to see the other gift sets available this year - HERE. This is the Light It Up: Primer Set which includes two of the most popular priming products from the brand, the Photofinish Primer which is a full sized product and a 30ml travel size of the Photo Finish Priming Water. I haven't been using these products for too long to give them a full review but these are my first impressions at the moment and I am sure I will update you on them in a month or two when I have really put them to the test.

As I mentioned in my collection overview, I am a big fan of the packaging of this collection. The two priming products come housed in a gorgeous sheer neon pink acrylic style container with a clear lid which you can remove the insert inside to use as makeup storage! I have my favourite lip products stored in the box in my Alex drawers at the moment! This set retails for £26 and the Photo Finish Primer alone is £26 normally so you get the cute container for free as well as the generous travel size of the priming water.

The Photo Finish Primer on first impressions is great. It has a silicone feel as you work it into the skin before applying foundation which I really like as I find it makes my foundation and concealer apply much smoother. It feels very similar to Benefit Porefessional on the skin. I found that my foundation lasted so much longer (Too Faced Born This Way Foundation) and helped keep my skin matte in areas which I would become oily after a few hours. The Priming Water can be used before foundation application and also as a makeup setting spray, I have only used this once or twice before makeup and I find that it helped balance any oil on the skin. I am pretty interested to see how this will work as a setting spray or as a makeup refresher, it could be good for those days when you apply a little too much powder and need a quick fix!

The Smashbox LIGHT IT UP: Priming Set retails for £26 at Boots - HERE.
