Urban Decay Ultimate Basics Palette (+ Swatches)

I am not usually a fan of all matte palettes and I had Naked 2 palette previously and found I didn't use it as much as I wanted to. But with this palette I have been obsessed and have used a least one or two shades every single day. I love Urban Decay palettes and this one is no different.

There is a place for this palette in every makeup bag and collection, it is such a great palette to have and I have without fail use it every single day. The packaging is absolutely stunning, in true Urban Decay style, with rose gold, light weight packaging. Inside the palette are the 12 matte eyeshadow shadow shades as well as a huge mirror and a pretty decent double ended brush. I have used to the brush a couple of times and it is great at applying the shades if you forget your brushes while on the go.

This palette has all the matte shades I could ever need with a good mixture of cool and warm tones suitable for all skin tones. Usually, with palettes like these, I find myself not using every shade but I have got so much use out of this palette already and the only two shades I haven't really used yet are the Magnet and BlackJack but I know towards the end of the year I will use these two a tonne! Each and every shade is very well pigmented and buttery soft, you can see from the swatches that no shade lacks pigmentation and they are all very consistent in colour pay off.

The shades in the palette are:

- Blow: a light nude with a demi-matte finish
- Nudie: a soft pink
- Commando: a light taupe-brown
- Tempted: pale brown
- Instinct: a medium pink-taupe
- Lethal: a redish brown
Pre-Game: a pale yellow
- Extra Bitter: a burnt orange
- Faith: a medium warm toned brown
- Lockout: a rich neutral brown
- Magney: smokey grey
- Blackjack: a warm toned black

These shadows apply so well and blend so easily making my eye looks even easier to create, I was so impressed with how they blend from the first time I applied one of the shades to the crease. I don't find any of the shades to be uneven on application either, with or without primer. I find all of the shades to be very long lasting on the eyes too. My favourite shades and the ones I have been using for work most days are Extra Bitter, Faith, Commando and Blow. I have been loving mixing Extra Bitter and Faith together and wearing them in the crease.

At £38.50, this palette is definitely worth investing in as it is a basic palette that everybody needs in their collection. I have been loving creating all matte looks with this palette for pairing it with a few shimmer shades from either my Naked Smoky Palette or the Naked 3.
