2016 Beauty Favourites

Hello 2017, I hope you are much better than 2016! Can you believe it's 2017 already? I am so sad that Christmas has been and gone for another year! I spent a couple of days picking out all of my favourites from 2016 and these are the products which I genuinely couldn't be without and are must haves in my makeup collection.

This year I have been on a serious hunt for the best base products as I have a lot of discolouration and scarring from years of acne. I have found some incredible products which I will always have in my makeup collection and that I would recommend to anyone. The Too Faced Born This Way Foundation really is worth all of the hype that it gets because, like everything else included in this post, amazing. This foundation has great coverage and has a natural lightweight finish to it. This lasts well on my skin throughout the day and when I use this I don't find the need to use any concealer on my face other than under my eyes. I have tried so many different concealers this year and while I have found some firm favourites, the Kat Von D Lock It Concealer is phenomenal. I have been using this as my under eye concealer for a few months now and I wouldn't use anything else now. It covers anything and everything so easily with such high coverage but it never leaves the under eye looking or feeling heavy.

For at least six months of this year, I have used the Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder to set my under eye concealer and I can never fault it. This is a translucent powder which sets my concealer beautifully while brightening and leaving behind a smooth matte finish. I also like to use this to bake under my eye every now and again and it works even better for this! Last Christmas, I received theBalm Mary Lou Manzier and I have used it so much this year that I have actually hit pan on it! This is my go-to highlighter for work and always leaves my cheekbones glowing. I like the shade of this as it works so well with my lighter complexion and the highlight doesn't fade throughout the day. I wasn't going to include the KIKO Desert Dunes Trio Baked Blush in Impulsive Mauve as it was limited edition but I have spotted it on the site recently. I have used this blush so much this year and I love the almost plummy shade of it. This is also Vanilla scented and I am obsessed with the scent - why can't all blushes be scented!?

My next favourite is the Colourpop Shadow in Amaze, you can see in the photos just how much I have used this - I have barely any left! This is such a gorgeous peachy gold with silver glitter running through it and it is my all time favourite eyeshadow from Colourpop. I really can't fault the Colourpop eyeshadows as they are incredibly pigmented and unlike anything I have in my collection, if you haven't tried this yet - you have to in 2017! I had always struggled with my brows until I got my hands on the Eylure Brow Pomade and Brush & Wand Duo. This is my far the best brow product I have ever used and I even get compliments on my brows now which had never happened before. With the pomade, I am able to fill in my brows, extend the brow as well as create an arch and I never have to worry about them moving as this stuff lasts all day and then some! The Brush & Wand Duo is the best brow brush I have used and works incredibly well with the pomade, highly recommend these two from Eylure if you struggle with your brows.

My favourite lip products from 2016 are the Sleek Sheer Candy Lip Tints, which sounds a little boring compared to all of the liquid lipsticks and glosses everyone has been loving but I have been obsessed with these the most. I have two shades of this product and I always have Cherry Drop in my handbag. These give the lips a sheer wash of colour while keeping the lips hydrated and they are super comfortable to wear. I almost always wear one of these to work, I hope Sleek launch new shades! Of course, I had to sneak a little Bath and Body Works in, I would have included a candle but they don't really count as beauty! The Pocket Bacs, in general, have been a handbag essential for me but the Merry Berry Kiss has been my favourite scent and I am well stocked up! These don't dry out my hands and the scent lingers for hours after application. The Soap and Glory Speed Plump has been my go to moisturiser all year and I even have a backup! This really helps lock in moisture without interfering with how my foundation applies and wears throughout the day. My final favourite is the Victoria's Secret Vanilla Lace Fragrance Mist. This is by far the best Vanilla scented mist I have ever used and I have gone through so many of these in recent years, I always prefer these mists over perfumes!

What were your beauty favourites in 2016?
