I haven't done an updated everyday base routine in a while and now that I have found the perfect combination of products for a flawless base - I knew I had to share! 2017 is the year of quality over quantity. So I have decided to invest in better quality products rather than multiples and I have found for me personally that I prefer higher end base products usually because the colour range is much better and I can always find a match for my paler skin tone.
I have a lot of discolouration from years of acne as well as scarring and some slight texture so I need products which are higher coverage and smoothing on the skin. My skin is also slightly dry in some areas but very oily in the T-Zone and I have found that the Soap and glory Speed Plump Moisturiser works best for me. This sinks into the skin quickly and doesn't leave too much residue on the skin for it to interfere with my foundation application. Primers are one of my favourite products to try as if you find the right one, they can really make all the difference! I start off by spritzing the skin with the Smashbox Primer Water, I find this helps balance my skin before going ahead and applying further products. I then apply Benefit POREfessional to my forehead, around my nose and in my smile lines to prevent my foundation from settling in these areas.
For foundation, I am a huge fan of the Too Faced Born This Way Foundation as it has such great coverage and looks very natural on the skin. When I use this foundation I find that I don't have to worry about many acne or discolouration peeking through. For concealer, I use the Kat Von D Lock It Creme under my eyes which has incredible coverage yet isn't too thick for under the eyes. If I am having a particularly bad skin day I will use this on many spots to cover them. To apply both my foundation and concealer I always use a damp Beauty Blender as it always provides a flawless finish, if you haven't tried it yet, this should be at the top of your wishlist!
To set my under eye concealer I use the Jurlique Rose Silk Finishing Powder which is very lightweight for under the eyes. I really like this powder as it is so brightening which I love as my under eye area is very dull. To set the rest of my face, I use the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder which keeps my skin looking matte for most of the day and never leaves me looking cakey no matter how much I apply. Towards the end of the day, if I notice that my foundation has worn off, I will use the PUR 4-in-1 Mineral Foundation which has such high coverage. And finally to set my makeup, I always like to use the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray as it locks all of my makeup into place and I always notice that it lasts so much better when I use this.
