Everybody has been raving about these products so when Colourpop had free international shipping a while back, I thought I would get a couple of shades and see what all the fuss was about! I have never been a massive fan of matte lips or liquid lipsticks as I find them to be uncomfortable and drying on the lips but these are great and I might finally be converted to matte lips!
Swatched: Ice Cube & Bee's Knees
The Colourpop Blotted Lips are available in 11 shades, three of these are limited editions. These lip products claim to be a sheer matte lipstick that creates the perfect pout with a lightweight formula and buildable coverage for light to medium. I think the shade range currently available is okay, they could definitely do with a few more lighter shades as a lot of the shades available are on the more intense side which is also a good thing with it being Summer time.
The two shades I have are Bee's Knees, a fuschia pink, and Ice Cube which is a cool-toned berry. I find with a lot of my Colourpop lip products that they look completely different on lips, Bee's Knees shows up with a redder tone on my lips but Ice Cube is only a touch darker on my lips than in the swatch and I do prefer this. All of the Blotted Lip products are vegan-friendly, made in the USA and are also gluten free.
For these claiming to be sheer, they aren't at all but they are definitely buildable! If I want just a hint of colour, I will only use a quick swipe but if I want better coverage and colour pay off, I will apply a few layers. These are incredibly lightweight on the lips, you can only slightly feel them on the lips and I do love the matte finish they provide. Each of the shades made the lips almost looked stained which is one of my favourite looks for the lips.
If I am going to use a matte lip product, I am always expecting them to be long lasting and these are better than my expectations! Even though these have a matte finish, they don't make the lips look or feel dry in the slightest and they almost have a smoothing effect on the lips. Even after a few hours of wear, I don't notice any product to settle into the lines of my lips. I love how long lasting these are on the lips, I never have to worry about these wearing off throughout the day when eating or drinking as they don't budge!
