The Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Mask

I am obsessed with face masks and I have never really tried any from The Body Shop or their skincare for a while. This mask is massively raved about and dubbed as a dupe for one of the GlamGlow masks and with those being so expensive, I was super interested to give this a try!

The Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask from The Body Shop has been inspired by Ayurvedic traditions and is 100% vegan. This is a tingling clay mask that has been infused with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and organic tea tree oil. The bamboo charcoal is going draw out skin impurities and excess oils from the skin, the green tea leaves from Japan are rich in antioxidants and catechins to effectively exfoliate the skin while the tea tree oil will help keep the skin look clearer. It has been formulated without any parabens, paraffin, silicone or mineral oil as well. This mask is specifically for oily skin that needs extra purification to reveal a healthy, youthful glow and draws out impurities and refines the appearance of pores.

To apply this mask I much prefer to use a brush as it makes it so much easier to get an even layer as well as being a lot less messy. This does actually have tea tree leaves in which is why I prefer to use a brush so that they don't get on my fingers. This brush I have been using is The Body Shop Facial Mask Brush. This brush as long tapered bristles and a slated edge so that you can easily apply it to all areas of the face. The bristles are 100% synthetic making it cruelty-free. I always make sure to apply this to freshly cleansed, dry skin.

This mask only needs to be left on the skin for 5-10 minutes until the mud has dried for best results and you can use it two or three times a week, I tend to use it once or twice a week whenever I need a skin boost. This is actually a dual-functioning mask because when it comes to removing, I like to use a damp muslin cloth, it actually exfoliates the skin as you buff it away with circular motions.

If you have troublesome skin or suffer with any spots, this mask is definitely for you! My skin had been the worst it has been in a while when I started using this and I have noticed such great results every single time. This really helps purify my skin and I always notice after each application that any of my spots are minimised. I have always had issues with my pores as they are clogged and this has really helped clear them, unlike anything I have used before, they even looked slightly smaller! As I do have a lot of discolouration and acne issues, my skin does tend to look pretty dull but this mask really helps add a natural and healthy glow to the skin. I wasn't expecting this mask to have a tingling sensation once you apply it to the skin, I thought it might be a little uncomfortable as I really didn't like this sensation with the GlamGlow one that I tried but I actually really like it with this mask as it isn't too intense. My skin is always left feeling incredibly soft and smooth and much clearer than before each application.
