The Netflix Originals You Need to Watch #1

7 June 2018

While TV shows like 12 Reasons Why and Stranger Things don't appeal to me, there is so much Netflix content that I am obsessed with. Netflix is launching something like 700 new pieces of original content this year which makes me incredibly excited as I bloody love Netflix. I thought I would share some of my favourite recent originals that I have watched to save you the hours you spend scrolling trying to find something to watch.
The Netflix Originals You Need to Watch #1
The Kissing Booth

I have been waiting for a film like this to come out for years and I am so happy! If you loved films that are borderline cute/cringey teen movies like The Duff, Wild Child and Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging, you will be obsessed with this one. I've watched this a couple of times and it's actually one of the most viewed Netflix films in the world right now. Elle has been best friends with Lee ever since she was born and his brother is off limits. Until a kissing booth starts a forbidden romance and I won't say anything else as I don't want to spoil it! This had me laughing so hard and shedding a few tears. I really hope Netflix creates more movies like this soon.

Ibiza

This movie is absolutely hilarious, it had me almost cry laughing at certain scenes and I am obsessed with the casting. I have a new crush on Richard Madden (and Gillian Jacobs, if I'm being honest). Ibiza is based on a trio of friends who go to Spain for Harper's important work meeting but her hard-partying friends convince her to pursue a fling with a DJ. This is by far one of the funniest films Netflix has released and I have actually watched it three times now because I can't get enough of it. It does heavily feature drugs so keep that in mind.

Jack Whitehall: Travels with my Father

This isn't a new original but if you haven't watched this yet, add it to your list immediately! Jack Whitehall is one of my favourite comedians and watching him and his Dad travel around South East Asia is great viewing. It's really interesting to see that part of the world and of course, it's hilarious as Jack Whitehall is on it! It's already been renewed for season two and I think it's already been filmed as well as I would guess it would be out towards the end of this year.

Nailed It!

I love reality competition TV show and Nailed It! is a hilarious cooking show, season two will be out in a couple of weeks I believe! The host, Nicole Byer really does make the show and I think she's brilliant, I could watch her all day long. Each episode features three amateur bakers and they have to recreate professional sweet treats and the best baker from each episode wins $10,000. The cakes they have to recreate are some of the best ones I have seen and as the bakers aren't professionals, you can imagine how they actually turn out!

Stand Up Comedy Specials

I am obsessed with stand up comedy and Netflix has some incredible specials so I thought I would share a couple of my favourite ones as I couldn't pick just one! Ali Wong's Hard Knock Life is one of the newest to be added to Netflix and I loved it! If you aren't easily offended then I highly recommend the Dave Chapelle specials, specifically The Age of Spin episode. Marlon Wayon's Woke-Ish has had me cry laughing and I have a very weird crush on Chris D'Elia and his Netflix specials are so good.

What are your favourite Netflix originals?
