The Mini Controversy Palette | Shane Dawson x Jeffree Star

I have been a Shane Dawson fan ever since I was a teenager and I have been watching his videos for over ten years now. I have been a fan of Jeffree Star for a few years and when they first did their series together last year, I was hooked. Shane's most recent series with Jeffree had me invested in the products before I had even watched the first episode.

With watching each episode of the latest Shane Dawson series, I was getting more and more invested in the products and merch. On launch day and I had one heck of a fail and if you followed me on Twitter that week you will know all about what happened. Let's just say I will never be shopping with Beauty Bay on a launch day again. But about ten days after launch day, Beauty Bay must have checked the stock levels and hadn't actually sold out and relisted almost the entire collection so I knew I had to finally get the Mini Controversy Palette.

Even I saw the collection, I didn't think I could get a lot of use out of the products as I am not one for colourful eyeshadows but I was so wrong. This palette has inspired me to play with colour and I am in love with this palette. And while this is a mini palette, there is nothing mini about it! I was shocked when it arrived at how big it actually is. The eyeshadows are actually full sizes and for £25 it is an incredible deal for nine high-quality eyeshadows. The shades in this palette are:

- Flat Earth: baby blue matte
- Cry On My Couch: cream matte
- My Boyfriend's Purse: champagne silver shimmer
- Controversy: rich purple matte
- Diet Root Beer: warm brown mate
- My Apology: warm burgundy shimmer
- Exposed: soft lilac matte
- Cancelled: aqua blue matte
- The Simulation: royal blue shimmer

I love the packaging of this and even though it is a cardboard palette, it is extremely well-made and of the highest quality. You get a mirror inside and I love the theme of it down to the holo shift on the outside to the prints in the eyeshadow pans. I have tried so many different eyeshadow formulas over the years and I have never been as impressed as I have been with JSC's formula. I cannot believe how soft and smooth these shadows are. I don't get hardly any fall out as I apply them to the eyes and the kickback in the pans isn't any different than any of my other eyeshadow palettes.

These are some of the most pigmented eyeshadows I have ever used. Even though they are incredibly pigmented, they are still easy to apply and blend and the colourful shades aren't intimidating. I thought my favourite shades were going to be Diet Root Beer, My Boyfriend's Purse and Cry On My Couch but my favourites turned out to be My Apology, Controversy and Exposed. I love how they look together on the eyes. I hadn't used anything but warm nude shadows since I was 14 so I was so shocked by this!

I have been using this palette pretty much every day for the last couple of weeks and I adore it. I now want to get a few of Jeffree's other palettes, Blood Sugar is calling my name. The shadows are so long-wearing and don't fade or crease throughout the day even without an eyeshadow primer. I know this is currently sold out but it is available on pre-order and it will be restocked in March 2020 with that gorgeous green shade!
