Kat Von D Lock-It! Setting Powder Review

Kat Von D is quickly becoming one of my favourite brands, I have loved everything I have tried so far so I knew I wanted to try out a few more products. I love loose powders, especially for under the eyes and I had heard nothing but good things about this one so I knew I wanted to pick it up while I was in Sephora.

I rarely go through a full-size loose powder so I knew I wanted to pick up the mini size as I already have too many powders as it is that I am never going to finish! Sephora has a great selection of mini sized products at about half the price as the full sizes, I loved this section and I have noticed a few brands like Benefit have slowly started to sell travel sized products which I am so happy about! I think this size (5.4g) cost me around 15 euros which I didn't think was too bad. This is available at Debenhams in the UK for around £20 for a full size but it is currently out of stock online.

This is the Lock-It! Setting Powder that is free from Parabens, Sulfates and Phthalates while being completely free of animal-derived ingredients. Even though this is a miniature sized product, they haven't left out any attention to detail with the packaging, it looks exactly the same as the full size! The sifter holes inside the jar are in the shape of a star, inspired by Kat's signature star tattoos. One thing I will say about the packaging is I would definitely keep the sticker that it comes with otherwise you end up with a tonne of product waiting for you under the cute little puff every time you open it. Even on the lid of the pot, it has the KVD logo embossed into the plastic.

This is a very smooth loose powder which I have been mainly using to set my under eye concealer. But I have found myself using it around the nose and smile lines too as it has Micro-Blurring Technology that helps softly diffuse the appearance of pores and I am all about smoothing out the pores! The powder has a velvety matte finish which I am obsessed with and it is translucent and has been formulated to be undetectable on all skin tones as it doesn't leave behind a white cast. This has a very flawless looking finish once applied and it helps make my makeup last so much longer too. It never leaves the skin looking chalky or dry looking no matter how much I apply. I have also used this a few times to bake and it does such a good job!

It helps prevent any creasing throughout the day as well as making sure that my liquid products don't settle into any fine lines. It's also so lightweight on the skin, it feels pretty much undetectable! As I have acne prone skin, I already have a few issues with texture and I love that this powder doesn't add any more to the skin, it actually makes my skin feel super soft. I do find this loose powder to be slightly easier to apply than a few of my other ones, I like to use the Zoeva 135 Brush as it picks up the perfect amount of product and applies it so well under the eyes and around the nose etc.

The Kat Von D Lock-It Setting Powder retails for £22 - HERE.

  6. I've never tried any of Kat Von D's product, but they look like such good quality. I'm pleased that this powder is undetectable on the skin - can't stand cakey powders!
