Having acne prone skin is a right pain in the butt. I have struggled with my skin for almost ten years now and there are only a few products that can actually help get keep it at bay. I have honestly tried every popular acne/spot treatment there is and the Effaclar line from La Roche Posay is one of the best I have tried.
Back in 2014, I reviewed the Effaclar Duo+ and I loved it so I couldn't wait to start using it again! This completely transformed my skin last time I was using it and I did use it for a year or so after that but because I am always trying out a lot of new skincare, I had been using something else. This is an acne/spot treatment which you can use as a daily gel moisturiser, I liked to use it in the evenings but I have been using it before I apply my makeup this time around. This is going to help reduce the appearance of spots and blackheads while controlling shine and helping protect the skin from causes of red and brown coloured marks that are often felt behind from spots.
This contains Niacinamide to help visibly reduce the appearance of spots, Lipo Hydroxy Acid & Salicylic Acid to unclog blocked pores and Zinc PCA to control sebum to mattify the skin and control shine. It also has Procerad to help reduce the appearance of the coloured marks and Glycerin to keep the skin hydrated throughout the day. If you have been reading my blog for a while now you will know I am obsessed with Salicylic Acid which explains why I was such a big fan of this when I first tried it years ago because it always works brilliantly for my skin. I was really excited to use this again as even though my acne isn't half as bad as it was years ago, I have been left with a lot of discolouration and marks so I was hoping the Niacinamide would have some good benefits for my skin.
This is going to help get your skin clear within four weeks and from experience it really does work and it is one of the only acne/spot treatments that has personally worked for me. I have been prescribed so many different things from my Doctor as well as trying more spot treatments than I can remember and this is one that I always recommend when I'm asked for skin advice. What I love about this is that it doesn't dry out my skin at all, a lot of acne/spot treatments I have used completely suck the moisture out of my skin but this keeps it well hydrated while it gets to work! I have been using it for a few weeks now and I have really noticed my marks to start disappearing which I am so happy about! I haven't had any new spots/breakouts either.
I have tried a lot of the Effaclar line but I had never tried the Effaclar Clay Mask before. This mask only needs to be left on the skin for five minutes before you have visibly unclogged pores and my spots have been reduced! This has been infused with Argilla and Kaolin which work in synergy to absorb excess sebum from the skin but without stripping essential moisture from the skin. It has a very purifying mask that doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or uncomfortable after use. This has a generous dose of 5% Panthenol B5 to deliver a soothing sensation too. I have been really enjoying this mask as it always leaves my skin looking so much brighter and refreshed, I have always had quite dull looking skin thanks to my acne.
If you have acne prone skin and are looking for some new skincare to try, I would highly recommend the Effaclar line. They have a three-step kit which I used a while ago and loved alongside the Serozinc, I have gone through so many bottles of this stuff - it's brilliant! Both of these products are suitable for sensitive skin too, I have sensitive skin and they have worked great for me without any issues.
