I am obsessed with my Shape Tape concealer, it;s the only concealer I have used consistency for a year now so I knew I wanted a foundation version of my favourite product. Shade range issues aside, I am a massive fan of this product! I really hope Tarte will come out with some more inclusive shades soon though.
Tarte has launched two shape tape foundations with matte and hydrating versions and I have the hydrating one to talk about today. I do think that the matte foundation would be a little better suited for my skin type so I will be picking that one up in the next couple of months. I picked this up as part of the recent QVC TSV and I have pretty much been using this foundation every day since! If you have drier skin I think you would really like this.
The Tarte Shape Tape Hydrating Foundation has been designed for those who want a luminous-finish but with the same complexion-perfecting superpowers of shape tape but with an added smoothing boost. This foundation has a hypoallergenic formulation and is oil free. It's available in 18 shades, I am the Light Sand shade which is a really great match for me, if you aren't sure what shade to go for I would always recommend using the Temptalia Foundation Matrix - it has never failed me.
This foundation has very buildable coverage and I would say it's more of a medium to high coverage. It isn't quite full coverage but it looks very natural on the skin which I love. It's packed with collagen and hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate the skin throughout its wear and will also help refine pores while not creasing, caking or fading on the skin for up to 12 hours. The hydrating version has been recommended to be applied with the shaper sponge, I also have this as it came included in the TSV and I do really like it.
I absolutely love the applicator of this product, it makes it so quick and easy to apply and you don't waste any product! It has a massive doe-foot just like the concealer features and I like to apply a couple of swipes to each section of my face and then blend with a sponge or the airbrush finish foundation brush. I find that using a brush gives much higher coverage than a sponge. Then I will go and make sure it is evenly blended with the Tarte sponge. The shaper sponge is actually better than I thought it was going to be. It's great for under the eyes and works brilliantly for baking too.
I do love the finish and coverage of this foundation, it looks very natural on the skin and never cakey. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin and it really helps conceal any redness, blemishes and discolouration that I have. I do like to set it with a powder because I have oily skin but if you have dry skin you will love this product alone. I love the hydrating benefits from it as I do have a couple of dry patches and it doesn't draw any attention to them.
It claims to last for 12 hours on the skin and I have to agree with that claim but I do have to do a couple of powder touch-ups throughout the day as I do have slightly oiler skin, only the t-zone typically need a touch-up. I love that it doesn't settle into any of my pores and I don't have any issues with it settling into my smile lines either, I usually have this issue with almost all my foundations!
