The Beauty Products You Really Need for a Night Out

- This post contains an AD -
If you want to create impact on a night out, your main priority will probably be your clothing. Most of us pour a lot of time and attention into choosing the perfect outfit – but to grab attention, you should consider the whole package. In this instance, the devil really is in the detail.

Top beauty products for a night on the town
  • False eyelashes (or some really good mascara). A good set of eyelashes open up the eye, giving you that gorgeous ‘doe-like’ look. Remember, false eyelashes come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, with some being long and dramatic, and others being far more subtle. If you’re really against them, make sure you wear a good mascara instead, and use eyelash curlers.
  • Highlighter. Highlighter powder or cream is perfect for enhancing your cheekbones, and giving you that glossy, high-end look. Apply it after your foundation, directly on the line of your cheekbone. This provides a catwalkesque pop of shimmer, which is very glamorous indeed.
  • Hair texturiser. Give your hair some volume with a sea-salt spray, or a texture spray. This creates a slightly wind-swept, red-carpet feel. Alternatively, if you prefer your hair to look sleek, make sure you straighten it first, then apply some smoothing serum along the strands (avoiding the roots, as this can make them look greasy).
  • Primer. It’s always a good idea to prime your skin before you put make-up on. It provides your face with a welcome boost of moisturisation, which gives you that dewy, silky-smooth effect. Look for primers that soothe too – this is so useful if you have sensitive skin that’s prone to flare-ups.
  • Eyeliner. You’ve probably got an established eyeliner routine already, but for a night out, the best way to achieve smoky, dramatic eyes is to use pencil liner on the lower lid (grey or brown), and a black liquid liner on the upper lid. Smudge in some charcoal eyeshadow for a bold, dark effect.
  • Fragrance. Scent is one of the first things people notice about you, so it’s important to choose the perfect perfume. Go for something exotic and intense for your night out, like the designer favourite Baccarat Rouge 540 or Velvet Rose and Oud. Alternatively, search for perfumes that feature ingredients like oud oil, sandalwood, ylang ylang or damask rose.
  • Nail polish. When you’re focused on your face, it’s far too easy to forget your nails! If you like a timeless look, then ruby red or deep crimson is the way to go. Alternatively, if you like something a little different, ocean blue and forest green are very on-trend at the moment. Vivid shades like orange and acid lemon are also popular – but they’re not for the faint-hearted.

  • Bronzer. Want to look like you’ve just returned from the Mediterranean? If so, bronzer is the way forward. However, don’t go overboard, as no-one wants to look like an orange oompa-loompa. Apply along the cheekbone, or on the collar bones to provide a hint of ‘tan’.
