Blurb
January is a hopeless romantic who narrates her life like she's the lead in a blockbuster movie.
Gus is a serious literary type who thinks true love is a fairy-tale.

But January and Gus have more in common than you'd think:
They're both broke.
They've got crippling writer's block.
And they need to write bestsellers before summer ends.
The result? A bet to swap genres see who gets published first.
The risk? In telling each other's stories, their worlds might be changed entirely...

My Review

There are so many things I loved about this book from the Taylor Swift references to the overall setting of the book. I loved that they were neighbours at the beach. I was instantly gripped into the story from just the first few pages and within 100 pages when you start to get glimpses of January and Gus' romance, it got me so excited to keep reading. I did not put this book down until I finished it!

There is so much depth to the characters and so much emotion at points. The storyline with January's Dad and how she got the house wasn't distracting from the romance but really elevated the story. Gus' backstory was something I was expecting. I loved Gus and he had some swoon-worthy moments, especially at the end. I also really loved January's best friend, she bought some funny moments to the book and I loved how she dropped everything when January needed her. Both Gus and January have things that they are dealing with and trying to come to terms with and their romance was written to perfection.

One of my favourite things about this book, besides the romance, was how it discussed real-life problems and issues. From her relationship with her mum to her Dad's situation and about her being broke and it not being glamorised. But the relationship between Gus and January is one of my favourite ones I have read about in a while. I loved the idea of swapping writing genres and actually getting to see each of their writing processes.

This book has emotion (I rarely cry at books and this one got me), romance, depth, swoon-worthy moments, great friendships, family issues and drama and real-life situations. I cannot recommend it enough.
