Recent Reads #17: Five Star Romances

I have been reading some incredible books lately and some disappointing ones. Today I have five books to talk about, all of them with a least a little hint of romance and I hope you pick some of these up!
Get a Life, Chloe Brown - Talia Hibbert

Five Stars

I can't explain to you how much I adored this and I have no idea why I didn't read it last year! It has a few of my favourite tropes and it was extremely well written and paced. I loved Chloe and how she was plus size and unlike other books I have read with plus-size characters, she didn't hate herself. She also has chronic pain and that isn't something that I find in a lot of the books I read. I loved Chloe and Red's romance and I cannot wait for Dani's book, I have already preordered my copy!

The Happy Ever After Playlist - Abbey Jimenez

Five Stars

I listened to this on audio while I was at work a few weeks ago and I was not expecting to love this as much as I did. It had me grinning and swooning! This follows Sloan and Jason. Sloan's fiance died a few years before and she wasn't really living her life until a dog runs out in front of her car and she ends up looking after it for a few weeks while the owner won't return her calls. Jason finally checks his voicemail to find his dog is missing. Jason is a rockstar and I love to read those romances! Their romance was so good and I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

The Change Up - Meghan Quinn

Five Stars

Meghan is my favourite author and I swear her books get better with every single release. This is the latest book in her sports romance series and it is different than her others. While it still has her hilarious humour, it's also darker and so much steamier. Highly recommend checking out Meghan's books, especially if you have Kindle Unlimited.

Something to Talk About - Meryl Wilsner

I was really excited for this release and it fell flat for me. I was bored at times which makes me sad. The romance didn't happen until right at the end and while I get it was a slow burn, it was basically non-existent for me. This is a female/female romance and I did like the celebrity aspect to it. There were quite a few things I didn't like about it but I will definitely read more from this author in the future because it was well written.

Recipe for Persuasion - Sonali Dev

From the cover of this book and the blurb, I was expecting this to be quite a fun read. However, it was a dark and sad read and the romance was a side plot. The story covers a lot of family issues and talks heavily about suicide, child neglect and alcoholism. I did like reading about Indian culture and it was well written but this was not at all what I was expecting. The romance was a second chance romance and I did really like Rico but this book was a bit of a miss for me.
