The Best Man Plan - Jaci Burton | Spoiler Free Book Review

- This post contains a Netgalley arc -

This is the first book that I read from Jaci Burton and I will be making sure I read some more from Jaci in the future. I love romances set around weddings so when I spotted this on Netgalley I knew I had to request it and look how gorgeous that cover is!
The Best Man Plan - Jaci Burton | Spoiler Free Book Review
Blurb

"Three days before Erin Bellini's wedding, her fiancé breaks up with her...in an email.

Hurt and embarrassed, she turns to veterinarian Jason Callum, who's both the best man and the hottest guy she knows. But Jason wants a lot more than just a one-night stand with the woman he's cared about for years. He's intent on taking things slow, determined to show Erin what real love can look like.

Suddenly Erin finds herself with feelings she never planned on having again - she just isn't sure she can trust her instincts. After all, she made a terrible choice with her ex-fiancé.

But Jason intends to convince her that he's the best man for her, and that what they have together is a true love that will last forever..."

My Review

This is a friend to lovers romance that is unlike anything I have read with that trope if I am being honest. Owen is a runaway groom and his best man and best friend is Jason. Erin turns to Jason in the aftermath and she starts out wanting a revenge fling with Jason. I didn't love this and one of the issues I had with this is that she tried to start this on what would have been her wedding day. It just seemed far too soon, especially when she was crying and obviously upset about the situation just a few hours before.

But having said that, their romance did change within a few chapters as she started to realise her feelings. I did really like Jason and how he wasn't interested in a revenge fling with Erin as he had liked her for years as they had been friends since they were little. Jason is super swoony, I liked how he was patient with Erin throughout the book, and he was my favourite character in the book. I loved that he was a vet and how much he loved animals. I also liked his plot with renovating is house more than I liked Erin's plot.

I do feel like this book was too long and it did get repetitive at times, it could have been 100 pages shorter and still told the same story. Some of the dialogue between characters didn't seem realistic and was forced at times. I was really frustrated with how long it took for Erin to talk to Owen about why he ran away right before what would have been their wedding and I honestly wasn't a fan of the reasoning. It seemed unnecessary for the plot. I know it might sound like I hated this book but I didn't!
