I am seriously fussy when it comes to mascaras and because of that, I don't usually like most that I try out. I only have a handful that I really like but I was intrigued to try this new one out from Urban Decay as they are one of my favourite makeup brands.

The Urban Decay Lash Freak Mascara retails for £21 and is the latest launch from the brand. This mascara has a long-wearing formula that will offer smudge and sweatproof protection and will last for up to 20 hours. It has a flake-resistant formula and will create up to 23.6 times more volume (how very specific) and up to 40% more visible lash length. The brush has been designed to be customisable for volume, definition and lift for a dramatic wide-eye look. The asymmetrical design has been made to load every lash for extreme results. The very tip of the brush, which is my favourite part of the brush, features bristles all the way around to allow you to coat the inner corner and lower lashes with ease.

I have mixed thoughts on this mascara if I'm being honest. The brush is very weird and takes some time to get used too and the formulation of this mascara is extremely wet. I'm not a massive fan of super wet mascaras as I find them messy to use and can end up making the lashes clumpy and that can be the case with this one. I don't like this mascara on the lashes alone as it doesn't lengthen as much as I would like and it claims but I do really like it when I use a lengthening mascara used and layer with it.

It doesn't flake at all throughout the day and it does live up to a lot of its claims. It's an extremely black mascara and doesn't dry down with any grey hints like some other mascaras. And it is extremely long-wearing which I am always looking for in my makeup products as during the work week I am awake from 4am until around 10pm and my makeup is on for most of the day.

It is a great mascara to thicken the lashes and add volume but you do just have to be careful with how much product you have on the brush. I think this is going to be one of those mascaras that gets better after being open for a couple of weeks, like the Too Faced Better than Sex Mascara. Even though this is a very wet mascara, once applied it doesn't budge or transfer onto the skin under the eye or under the brows which is something I usually struggle with when I try new mascaras.

Urban Decay is a cruelty-free brand.
