The Wedding Game - Meghan Quinn | Spoiler Free Book Review

I say this at least once a month but I am obsessed with Meghan Quinn. She is my favourite author of all time and I get so excited for each new book release. Meghan releases a tonne of books every year which makes me so happy and this is her latest release. The Wedding Game has such a gorgeous cover and it was one of my most anticipated reads of 2021. The Wedding Game - Meghan Quinn | Spoiler Free Book ReviewBlurb

"Luna Rossi is a veritable crafting genius—she can bedazzle and bead so hard her Etsy site is one of the hottest in the world. So it’s only natural that Luna would convince her brother and his husband-to-be to compete on The Wedding Game, a “do-it-yourself” TV show, for the title of Top DIY Wedding Expert.

As a jaded divorce lawyer, Alec Baxter scoffs at weddings and romance. But when his recently engaged brother begs him to participate in The Wedding Game, Alec grudgingly picks up a glue gun and prepares for some family bonding.

Both fierce competitors, Luna and Alec clash on national TV as harsh words and glitter fly with abandon. But as they bicker over color swatches and mood boards, they find themselves fighting something else: their growing mutual attraction. While Luna is torn between family loyalty and her own feelings, Alec wonders if he might have been wrong about love and marriage all along…"

My Review

Let me just start by saying this book was pure escapism for me. If you follow me online you will know that my ceiling fell down living a hole the size of big foot in it and I needed this book. It bought me so much happiness for those hours I was reading and that is exactly what I get whenever I read Meghan's books. Before I started reading The Wedding Game, I wasn't exactly sure how Alex and Luna were actually going to get together and the way Megan wrote it was perfection. It's so funny at times that I was laughing out loud every couple of chapters. And even though the plot of this book takes place during a reality show about weddings, it doesn't overpower the story in the slightest and it has the perfect mixture of those scenes and every day life for our characters.

I adored Luna, I loved how crafty she was and her relationships with her brother and best friend/roommate. I also loved how she was an influencer and it was actually realistic in showing how hard she worked to get her platform to where it is. I really loved seeing the different family dynamics throughout the book even though Alec's were heartbreaking at times. Alec's character growth throughout the book was nothing short of great and I really love and appreciate how Meghan often writes such great sides of vulnerability with male characters. Alec and Luna's relationship starts off very rocky and it's kind of a slow burn that I loved because you got to see their relationship grow from being on the wrong foot to friends to more.

With Meghan's books you can always expect some hilarious moments and super steamy scenes which I am always here for but this book also had so much heart to it. I read a tonne of rom-coms but Meghan's are some of the few that actually have my laughing out loud even after I have flipped the page. This book is classic Meghan but so much more and a little different but better! And for that I gave it five stars. I mean...I give almost every single book five stars from Meghan but this book got sparkly five stars.

The Wedding Game is officially released on the 1st of March 2021 however if you are a Prime member, you can get this ebook for free this month with Kindle First Reads! The paperback is also £3.99 so a total bargain! You can get your copy here
