Rosie Danan's The Roommate, was one of my favourite books for 2020, you can read my review of The Roommate here, and The Intimacy Experiment was one of my most anticipated released of this year. I was so excited to be able to read this and I honestly cannot say a thing bad thing about it. I adore the romance genre and this book was nothing short of spectacular.

Blurb

"Naomi Grant has built a life around going against the grain. When the sex-positive start-up she co-founded becomes an international sensation, her responsibilities shift from the bedroom to the boardroom. Ready to conquer new worlds, Naomi wants to extend her educational platform to live lecturing, but despite her long list of qualifications, higher ed won't hire her.

Ethan Cohen has recently received two honours: LA Mag named him one of the city's hottest bachelors and he became rabbi of his own synagogue. Taking a gamble in an effort to attract more millennials to the faith, the executive board hired Ethan because of his nontraditional background. Unfortunately, his temple is low on both funds and congregants. The board gives him three months to turn things around or else they'll close the doors of his synagogue for good.

Naomi and Ethan join forces to host a buzzy seminar series on Modern Intimacy, the perfect solution to their problems - until they discover a new one - their growing attraction to each other. They've built the syllabus for love's latest experiment, but neither of them expected they'd be the ones putting it to the test . . ."

My Review

I honestly didn't think I could love a book more than The Roommate but The Intimacy Experiment topped it! And if I was able to give it a higher rating than five stars, I would. Naomi and Ethan are complete opposites in so many ways, she is an ex porn star turned business woman and Ethan is a Rabbi, need I say anything else? But they have an instant attraction to each other and I adored their relationship progression throughout the book. This is a companion book to The Roommate but you could definitely read it as a standalone. I would still recommend reading The Roommate first as it will enhance your reading experience of this one as you get to see the previous characters a few times throughout the book.

Ethan and Naomi have such incredible chemistry (and one of the steamiest first dates, ever) and I loved everything about it. They were so head over heels for each other and it was everything of the sort. Naomi is one of my favourite book characters I have ever read, she has fantastic character growth throughout the book. I loved and appreciated that while she is a complete badass with everything she does, she is learning to accept that it's okay to be vulnerable.

Whenever I read, I will usually read an entire book in one sitting and that was the case with this. But I kept trying to slow down as I didn't want it to end as I was loving it so much. There is something really special about Rosie's writing style, she has become one of my all time favourite authors and I just need all the books already. I loved that this was a fresh idea for a romance, I can't say I have ever read a romance with an ex porn star and a Rabbi before and it was incredible and it worked! While this book is super steamy, it also has some really funny and heartwarming moments too. I really enjoyed the plot outside of their romance with Naomi's business, Shameless, and with Ethan's family and following him try to turn things around with his synagogue. I don't follow a religion however I really liked how it was written throughout this without it overpowering any other element of the book. I could have honestly read more about it.

The Intimacy Experiment is out on the 6th of April 2021 and you can preorder your copy here
