I get so excited by new romance book releases and this one did not disappoint! It was completely different from what I was expecting from it but that actually worked out to be better! This is my first read from Farrah and it won't be my last.
The Boyfriend Project - Farrah Rochon | Spoiler Free Book Review
Blurb

Three friends. One pact. And a temptation to break the rules...
Samiah Brooks never thought she would be 'that' girl. But a live tweet of a horrific date reveals the painful truth: she's been catfished by her three-timing jerk of a boyfriend.
Suddenly Samiah - along with the two other 'girlfriends', London and Taylor - have gone viral. Now the three new besties are making a six-month pact: no men, no dating, just time to focus on themselves.
This means Samiah can finally focus on her exciting career in app development - so having the deliciously sexy and distracting Daniel Collins walk into her office definitely isn't part of her plan...
But is Daniel really boyfriend material - or is he simply too good to be true?
My Review
If you are new to romance books, I would say this is a good one to go with. While the romance plot is why I read it, I ended up loving it for more than just that. The first 20% of the book really sets up the story and I am also hoping it sets up the series with how things were left off! If I'm being honest, the book was a little slow for me but it worked for me. The romance isn't the main storyline, it's about following your dreams and friendship too. I loved how this was set up with Samiah getting catfished along with Taylor and London and I loved their friendship. I really hope Taylor and London get their own books.
The drama in this book involving Daniel was not what I was expecting at all and I LOVED it. I really don't want to spoil anything but it is a niche that I really enjoy in books and movies and it was a complete surprise to find it in this book. I loved how flirty Daniel was with Samiah, it made me happy to read. This book was such a fun read and Samiah is one of my favourite characters I have read about recently, she is such a badass in everything she does.
One thing I found impactful from reading this was when Samiah talking to Daniel about how she needs to achieve perfection as a Black woman, it's not something I have ever had to think about. So reading about why she feels the need to be perfect, especially in the workplace so it doesn't ruin the chances of them hiring another Black woman really opened my eyes.
You can get The Boyfriend Project for £1.99 on ebook - HERE. (Paperback version is also available for around £8!)
