I have been on a concealer kick recently. I had been in need one a new one so I picked up one high end and one budget option to put to the test. A couple of days ago I posted a review of a Dior concealer that I love (you can check that out here) and today I have a review of the brand new concealer from The Ordinary.
The brand new Concealer from The Ordinary retails for £4.90 and you get 8ml of product. It's available in 36 shades that will correspond with the foundation range. It's great to see such affordable brands with wide shade ranges and some middle range brands *ahem Benefit* could learn a lesson or two from The Ordinary. This is a full coverage concealer that is crafted from colour pigmented suspended in the formula to provide a real skin looking finish.
Full coverage products are always what I am looking for as I love a product to have the ability to provide that level of coverage but it also means you can usually sheer out the product to customise the coverage rather than having to apply more to build it up. This one reminds me on the IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Concealer that is one of my favourites. The reason it reminds me of it is because it has a slightly thicker texture and you only need a tiny amount and it goes a long way. It's slightly tinnier than the IT Cosmetics which makes it much easier to blend.
I have the shade 1.0P which is for very fair skin with pink undertones. And while I am pale, I am not all that fair and this is still a good colour match for me and works brilliantly on - the under eye area and any spots, blemishes or redness. Even with this concealer having high coverage, it never looks or feels heavy on the skin and as long as you blend it well under the eyes and set with some powder, it won't crease badly throughout the day and evening. I like to apply with this my fingers to anywhere but the under eye area which I will use a damp sponge. I don't ever tend to use my fingers to apply base makeup but it's really effective with this concealer.
This is one of my favourite products from The Ordinary and it's an absolute bargain. It's lightweight, has amazing coverage and holds up well throughout the day.
The Ordinary is a cruelty-free brand.
