We are almost in 2022 and while I don't care at all about New Years Eve or resolutions, I do love reading favourites posts from the year. Today I have some of my favourite TV shows, movies and songs from the year and all of my favourite books will be in a separate post or this would be a few miles long to read. Because I do read so much, I read over 300 books in 2021, I don't watch too many things anymore so I am very picky with what I watch. However this year has been the year I rediscovered my love for all things Marvel and what a year it has been to be a fan of the MCU. WandaVision is one of the best shows I have ever watched and not just because of the actual show but because of the hype and online reactions each week, it was unlike anything I have ever experienced.
My two other favourites from the Marvel Disney+ shows were Hawkeye and The Falcon and the Winter Solider. Bucky and Hawkeye are two of my favourite Marvel characters so I love that they got their own shows this year. TFATWS was a much more emotional show with racism being discussed in the Marvel universe for the first time and Hawkeye was pure festive fun! For Marvel movies, my three favourites were Black Widow, Shang-Chi and Spider Man: No Way Home. These were three phenomenal movies!
Other movies I loved this year were Red Notice and The Hating Game. Red Notice is a action comedy from Netflix with The Rock, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, need I say more? The Hating Game is a romance book I absolutely loved when I read it years ago and I wasn't sure if it could live up to the hype in movie form but I can't say enough good things about it! Lucy Hale was perfect and I know I will rewatch this movie again and again.
The next four favourites are all series'. The first is Only Murders in the Building, this is a comedy murder mystery and I already can't wait for the second season. Outside of Marvel this was my favourite piece of content I watched this year. For documentaries, I really loved the Space X Inspiration4 Netflix series which follows four 'normal' people as they head to space for three days. I am a huge true crime fan and one of the best shows I watched this year was from Netflix and it's Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer. This one made me afraid to go to sleep for about a week! And finally is Formula 1: Drive to Survive. I started watching Formula 1 this year and I really did pick a great and intense season to start with and this show is a great place to start if you do want to get into it before the new season starts in March.
For songs, I can't not talk about Taylor Swift. Us Taylor fans have had a blessed year with Fearless (Taylor's Version), Red (Taylor's Version), the All Too Well Short Film as well as Wildest Dreams (Taylor's Version). I have loved every single release and I can't wait to see what we get to hear in 2022.
What were your favourites in 2021?
