Back in 2017, I reviewed the The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Solution (you can check that out here) and the brand has recently released another salicylic acid but with a water-free formula which I had to dying to try out while waiting for the original to come back in stock while I believe it was being reformulated. The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Anhydrous Solution retails for £5.20 for 30ml and is a water-free serum for gentle exfoliation and pore decongestion. It's alcohol, oil, silicone, nut and gluten free. This product is not a redirect replacement of the Salicylic Acid 2% Solution and why I wanted to try this as it offers salicylic acid in a squalene base formulated with the intention of reducing concerns like skin irritation that can be associated with the use of Salicylic Acid. I have been using SA for over a decade as I was first prescribed a treatment with a high percentage during my teens to help combat acne.
I really like this product and I find it to be as effective as the other SA mentioned and while I do like both, I can see myself continuing to use this new product. I have found my skin to be clearer than ever and a lot less congested which had gotten worse over the last year due to mask wearing. I had been really struggling with clogged pores and blackheads and whiteheads and this has been a massive help. My pores are clearer than ever. I haven't had any big breakouts since I introduced this into my routine and I have found that this is a product I have been continuing to see results with every week. One of the things I love about this product when I compare it to the other SA from the brand is that I am seeing a lot less irritation. My redness is almost non-existent which I have never experienced when using an SA before. SA can be harsh on the skin and my skin has become much drier over the last year or so so I like that this isn't irritating and doesn't dry out my skin while helping to keep it clear.
The Ordinary is a cruelty-free brand.
