Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink Review (+ Swatches)

I have always said that I am not really a liquid lipstick fan. I have found a few that I have liked the formula of but I have never found one that is super comfortable to wear but I was blown away when I tried out these new ones from Maybelline! I have tried some of the most hyped ones from the likes of Kat Von D and Jeffree Star but I have got to say, I prefer Maybelline!

Swatched: 35 Creator, 20 Heroine, 45 Escapist & 20 Pioneer.

These are the Superstay Matte Ink Liquid Lipsticks that claim to be intensely perfect, perfectly intense with up to 12 hours of wear time. They are available in ten shades from nudes to brights and I have been trying out four of the brighter shades I really hope that Maybelline brings out some more shades soon because I have become quite the fan of these. They are also the official colour of London Fashion Week. I really like the packaging of these and that each of the liquid lipsticks actually has the colour on the bottom half of the tube as it makes it so much easier to find the shade you are after when you own a few of them! The product itself is on the smaller size which I love because it doesn't take up too much room in my makeup. The four shades I have are:

- 25 Heroine: a bright poppy red
- 20 Pioneer: raspberry
- 35 Creator: neon violet
- 45 Escapist: blackened plum

These liquid lipsticks are super pigmented, even Escapist only need one coat on the lips and I was expecting it to need a few from my previous experience with darker liquid lipstick shades. They don't usually dry down on the lips which is why I think I like them so much as they are much more comfortable than any other liquid lipstick I have used before but they are ever so slightly transferable, I personally don't mind this. As they don't fully dry down they don't settle into any of my lip lines and they don't feel at all dry on the lips. I have been wearing these for a week or so now and I haven't had any issues with dry lips after use either! Even after hours and hours of wear, they don't settle into any lines on my lips which is very impressive and I have never had this with any other liquid lipstick before.

The application is really easy and the applicator is super soft and has a slight point to it which makes it much easier to line the lips and do not make half as much mess as I usually would with a doe foot applicator. As they don't fully dry down you do have a little bit of time to correct any mistakes that you might make. They also have a nice light scent too, it makes a change from the chemical smelling ones I have tried before! These liquid lipsticks obviously have a matte finish but they almost look and feel like a second skin once applied. You can honestly barely feel them on the lips and are super comfortable even after hours of wear.

They claim to have 12 hour wear time and I would have to agree! I have worn these from early hours of the morning, drunk too many cups of tea and coffee and eaten meals and snacks throughout the day and they don't even budge. After I have had my dinner I noticed that the very inner of my bottom lip had worn off but I think that is very good going as it was barely noticeable! I love the four shades that I have but I think my favourite would have to be Pioneer as I have been wearing it to the most and it's one of those shades I am always drawn too.
