I haven't been able to stop reading for the last couple of weeks. All of my free time is spent reading and as I have been off work for a few weeks, I am reading at least a book a day most of the time. Today I have a couple of five star romances that I cannot get enough of and that I highly recommend! The Kings of Kearny - Navessa Allen (out on the 15th of June)
"Jakob Larson is going to be the death of me.That’s what I think every time he strides into my bar.The Kings of Kearny run this small Texas town, and Jakob is their chief enforcer. The Viking, they call him. He’s a criminal. As dangerous as he is sexy. The kind of man who makes my inner cavewoman sit up and take notice.Him big. Make strong babies. Bring home mammoth for dinner.I’m ready to indulge her desires, but just for one night. Unfortunately, Jakob has other plans.Someone in town is breaking one of the cardinal rules set by the leader of The Kings. And Jakob thinks they’re using my grandmother’s nursing home as a front for their illicit activities. Now I’m neck-deep in trouble with him, and every time I think I’ve figured out what’s really going on, Jakob reveals another piece of the puzzle.I need to figure out how far I’m willing to go to protect this town. How far I’m willing to go with Jakob.Because if I fall for him, there’s no going back. No hope for a peaceful ending. But Jakob is the kind of man who makes me think that peaceful is overrated, and that descending into darkness with him could lead to something even better than a Happily Ever After."I have never read a motorcycle romance because I honestly didn't think they would be my thing but as I have been loving more romantic suspense this year I thought I would give it a try. And I am so glad I did as this book has got me hooked on them! I could not put this book down, it was a fantastic steamy romance with all the drama. I read the entire book in one sitting and it was one of the most enjoyable books I have read so far in 2021.I loved both of our main characters and it made sense to only have one POV based on the plot but I loved that we got an epilogue from his perspective and it was a perfect and fun epilogue at that! I loved how Krista was such a strong woman and didn't take any crap and trusted her gut regardless of the consequences. She has chronic pain and in the first chapter there is a mention of child abuse so trigger warning for that. Her Gran was one of my favourite side characters in the book, she added some laughter to a darker book. She has Alzheimers and I liked how it was handled in this. I liked how Jakob was so moody but really protective of Krista and had liked her from even before the book started. They have such great chemistry and you can feel it right from the start.I really hope this is the start of a series because I need more!"My boyfriend’s billionaire boss always gets what he wants.Menacingly handsome and unquestionably powerful, Theo Whitman need only snap his fingers to have a flock of supermodels fall at his feet. So when his steel gray eyes first meet mine, I expect him to pass right over me, to not give so much as a second thought to my presence.Instead, he sees me. Truly sees me. And for a girl who prefers to hide behind her camera lens, it’s the most unnerving experience of my life.Until he asks me to stay on his yacht for the summer. All I have to do to earn my keep is be Theo’s on-call photographer when he has guests, and I’ll get a free ride through the Mediterranean with my boyfriend. Easy peasy.Still, my skin prickles in warning when I say yes.As the humid days fade into balmy nights, I can’t seem to avoid Theo. And when he finds me, it’s like a rabbit running into a wolf. His intense gaze immobilizes me. The way he speaks strips me bare. Every brush of his skin sears me like a violent flame. My boyfriend’s billionaire boss always gets what he wants. And this time, I think he wants me."
If you don't want to read books with a cheating element, give this a miss. But the cheating element isn't what it necessarily sounds like and I ca't say more than that before of spoilers. However, I had so much fun reading this! It was pure escapism and I couldn't put it down. Almost the entire book is set on a yacht and as a Below Deck fan, I was instantly hooked. I really liked Theo and Aspen's relationship, this is a billionaire, age gape romance with them in constant close proximity and there is a little bit of suspense towards the end. Kandi writes angst like no other and I can't recommend it enough if you have similar reading taste to me.
"Marry a man I barely know to save my family from ruin.It might’ve been simple, if my betrothed were anybody else.On our wedding day, my husband-to-be arrived at the courthouse like a black cloud rolling over Manhattan. Walt didn’t crack smiles or pepper in pleasantries as we exchanged hollow vows in front of the judge. His disdain for me was so palpable I assumed we’d walk out of that ceremony and resume our regularly scheduled programming. But then fate was like, Hold my beer. I got this.In desperate need of help and with nowhere else to turn, I had no choice but to ignore a crucial rule in our contract: I shall only contact Mr. Jennings II in case of emergency. But hey, what’s a little fine print between husband and wife?Turns out, Walt’s a stickler for legalese—I think it might be his love language. Oh, and his attitude at the courthouse wasn’t a put-on. My so-called husband is a jerk. He takes what he wants without giving any consideration to other people—specifically ME, his blushing, contractually-obligated bride!I knew life with Walt would be no honeymoon, but a marriage of any sort should still come with a few standard guarantees:To have and to hold. For richer or poorer. In sickness and in health. But after experiencing Walt’s version of wedded bliss, I say let’s forget about all that lovey-dovey crap and just take me straight to death do us part."THIS IS THE R S GREY I LOOOVE.I have read almost all of R.S Grey’s books now and while I’ve rated them all highly, the last few releases haven’t been ones I have loved as much as books like Arrogant Devil and Hotshot Doc which are too of my favourite books. This book has that specialness to it. It was incredible, if you love angsty, slow burn romances this is for you. I love the marriage of convenience trope and it was well done in this! And while it is an age gap romance it doesn’t play into the plot too much.Highly recommend if you love this author!I usually expect dual POV with this author but this book didn’t need it and I was glad we only got her POV. You can tell what he is feeling without having to read this thoughts by his actions."Life for Emma isn’t good. The world knows her as Princess Anya on Dark Castle, but then her character gets the axe—literally. The cherry on top is finding her boyfriend in bed with another woman. She needs a break, and sanctuary comes in the form of Rosemont, a gorgeous estate in California promising rest and relaxation. Then she meets the owner’s equally gorgeous grandson, ex–hockey player and current recluse Lucian Osmond, and she sees her own pain and yearning reflected in his eyes. He’s charming when he wants to be but also secretive and gruff, with protective walls as thick as Emma’s own. Despite a growing attraction, they avoid each other. But then there’s an impromptu nighttime skinny-dip, and Lucian’s luscious homemade tarts and cream cakes start arriving at Emma’s door, tempting her to taste life again…In trying to stay apart, they only grow closer—and their broken pieces just might fit together and make them whole."
Ugh, how I loved this book. This is the first book I have read from Kristen and it won’t be my last, I already have multiple on my TBR for April! Gimme all the book boyfriends who are hockey players who love to cook and bake (and show their love with food) because SWOON. This book was the perfect mixture of sweet, swoony and steamy and I adored Emma and Lucian, where can I get a Lucian? They also have a really healthy relationship and I just loved everything about it.
All of these books are available in Kindle Unlimited.
